This is a great trip for those who are looking for an introduction into what the Great Smoky Mountains has to offer, as this hike is designed to focus on some of the local history as we take a leisurely stroll to a secret waterfall, Spruce Flat Falls.  The trail is a gentle grade to a rewarding waterfall that is a great place to cool off on a hot day.  If you are new to hiking this is a great trip due to the group never being more than 2 miles from the company van.  The trailhead is at the Tremont Institute, which has bathrooms and an interpretational center.  Water and snacks will be provided.
