Two Tower Traverse
A multi-day backcountry adventure to the highest backcountry campsite in the park
We begin the adventure by setting up basecamp at Walnut Bottoms at Big Creek the first night. The following day we head up up to Mt. Cammerer (4,928′) where we take in the amazing views from the lookout built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937 using just the nearby materials available to them. We will return to basecamp for another night then pack up and head out to the highest backcountry site in the National Park, Mt. Sterling (5,842′), and check out the fire tower at the top. The next morning we will hike out. Maximum of 9 miles per day.
Like any of our outdoor expeditions, exceptional food and fun times should be expected.
