This trip is a Challenging 10.5 mile round trip hike to experience the beauty of the Smoky mountains.

Description: With an elevation gain of approximately 3800’, this trip allows for a challenging climb to one the most scenic sections of the Smoky Mountains and entire Appalachian Trail.

We allow for ample breaks on this trip as we work our way up the ridges experiencing the biodiversity that makes the Smokies unique. This trip is great for bird lovers and exercise enthusiasts.

The beginning of the trail works its way up a wide trail once used as a “road” up until the 1930’s. This gives hikers a great opportunity to walk side by side on a wide path. As we crest ridges we walk through rhododendron tunnels before opening to Spence field on the AT and viewing Fontana Lake and mountain ridges for days. As we push forward we find the summit of Rocky Top and enjoy the fruits of our labor with views of Clingmans Dome and More.

Lunch is provided by SMG and will be had trail side.
